Rockefeller University Associate Director | Child Family Center in New York, New York

Organization Overview

The Rockefeller University's Child and Family Center (CFC) is centrally located on our beautiful 16-acre campus. The CFC offers childcare and education to families affiliated with the University. Our families reflect the multicultural dimension of science that come from all over the world to study and work at Rockefeller. We have as many as 26 different languages represented in our diverse student body. Our teaching staff is also multinational, and many of our teachers are bi-lingual.

Overview

Our Child and Family Center is a 12 month full day program.

The Administrative team consists of a Director, two Associate Directors, an Assistant Director, an Educational Coordinator, and an Administrative Assistant.

Reporting to the Director of the Child and Family Center (CFC), the Associate Director supports all aspects of daily operations of the Child Family Center (CFC).

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in regular participation with and observation of classes and regular supervision with teaching staff

  • Building and nurturing a strong educational and administrative team

  • Supervising the development and implementation of curriculum

  • Develop and maintain systems for recording observations, organizing materials for teacher support and assessing teacher progress

  • Assist with recruiting and hiring professional staff

  • Establish, maintain and effectively communicate the educational mission, philosophy and policies of the CFC to the community (teachers, parents, and children)

  • Engage in and promote regular parent involvement and development activities

  • Planning, analyzing, developing, and implementing short and long-term goals, including suggesting and developing policy and program changes that respond to the needs of the University and CFC community

  • Ensure staffing and scheduling requirements fulfill the commitments of the program

  • Assisting with ensuring compliance with New York City and New York State regulatory agencies, and provide back-up in the Director's absence

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in early childhood education

  • Early childhood experience including working with toddlers, infants, and preschool aged children

  • Previous supervisory experience

  • Current New York state teacher certification

  • Strong communication (oral and written), organizational, interpersonal, and managerial skills

  • Interest and ability in developing relationships with children, parents and colleagues, and a sense of humor

  • Computer proficiency

  • Start date: flexible, preferred by 8/21/23 at the latest

USD $95,000.00/Yr.

USD $120,000.00/Yr.
