Rockefeller University Development Assistant I, Outreach Programming and Events in New York, New York

Organization Overview

The Development Program provides in excess of $50 million in private support annually toward the mission of The Rockefeller University, which is to improve the understanding of life for the benefit of humanity. Working with the Board of Trustees and volunteer groups, including The Rockefeller University Council, the Committee on Trust and Estate Plans, and the Women and Science and Parents and Science Initiatives, the Development Office oversees all private fund-raising at the University, including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns.

Overview

The Development Assistant will support the University’s outreach programming and events, as well as lend support to other Development Office programs as needed. As part of a four-member team, the Development Assistant will assist in the planning and implementation of programs that build community and foster collaborations both within and without the greater University community, including scientific symposia, lecture series, prize presentations, concerts, community outreach events, and Convocation.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include scheduling; mailings; updating and maintaining accurate records in databases and tracking systems, including an online room reservations system; coordinating event logistics; general correspondence; assist with development of donor research and event outreach materials; and other administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Must have strong oral, written, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills, as well as the ability to pay close attention to detail, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and work under tight deadlines.

  • Must be capable of fielding incoming phone calls, emails, and correspondence directed to the team and liaise with other departments/teams.

  • Experience in external relations and/or events and/or development preferable, and a team-player attitude is essential.

  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and fundraising databases necessary (Blackbaud CRM or The Raiser’s Edge).

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, website properties maintained through a CMS (Content Management System), and email and social media marketing tools a plus.

  • Must be available to work evenings, early mornings, and occasional weekend events as necessary.

Compensation Range: Min

USD $48,000.00/Yr.

Compensation Range: Max

USD $55,000.00/Yr.
