Job Title Facility Development Coordinator
Laboratory / Department Comparative Bioscience Center
The Comparative Bioscience Center provides a comprehensive program of animal care in support of the University's in vivo research. The goal of our staff is to provide investigators with the highest level of research support at the lowest cost while ensuring the welfare of the animals used in the research. The center is fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC).
The Facility Development Coordinator will be directly responsible for writing, amending, and training the staff in accordance with SOPs, policies, and guidelines associated with the expectations of the facility as well as serve as an expert in all areas of the facility by evaluating, recommending, and developing new techniques to assist in overall staff-department efficiency. The Facility Development Coordinator is expected to be familiar with the day-to-day activities, personnel, and issues within the facility, be forward-thinking to implement new technology, and create plans to mitigate potential risks. Must have strong interpersonal skills, will assist in program management, write and maintain reports and develop and maintain an effective relationship with the staff.
Associate degree is required, Bachelors degree is preferred. Must be certified at the AALAS ALAT level, with LAT preferred with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Must have working knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, familiar with animal census programs, and knowledgeable and experience with all state and federal regulations governing animal research.
