Organization Overview
The Purchasing Department is responsible for the cost-effective and expeditious procurement of goods and services to support the scientific and administrative endeavors of The Rockefeller University. The Rockefeller University Purchasing Department, along with the Receiving and Stockroom Departments, help ensure that the equipment, supply, and service needs of the University are accomplished in a professional manner that also adheres to all legal requirements and best business practices.
Overview
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for maintaining the receiving dock area safely. They will handle all telephone and email inquiries related to or addressed to the receiving department. The Receiving clerk also serves as a backfill for the Stockroom and or Mailroom during staff shortages.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Manages the Receiving Dock for delivery traffic and pedestrian safety.
Assist receiving staff with receipts of packages and shipment of outgoing packages.
Serves as backfill for receiving of packages and shipments of outgoing packages.
Maintains proper documentation for all receiving transations (digital and hardcopy).
Assist in special projects assigned, delegated by receiving supersior and or CPO.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have excellent written, verbal communication, customer services skills along with a clear and legible handwritting. Basic computer skill requiered. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and tolerate a significant amount of standing, bending, and walking.
