Department Description
We pursue a combination of biochemical, molecular and genetic approaches to define the checkpoints that regulate B cell development, antibody production and B cell tolerance. A second area of interest is in dendritic cells. Our interests range from the earliest phases of the B cell pathway, including the commitment to becoming a B cell through the completion of maturation. Our ongoing work includes a focus on mechanisms of V(D)J recombination, somatic mutation, isotype switching, allelic exclusion and tolerance.
Detailed Description
The Research Assistant will be responsible for working with human blood samples and conducting peripheral blood mononuclear cell collection, processing and storing. Will also handle and process infectious materials, including HIV- and Hepatitis-C- infected blood samples from clinical trials.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in biology preferred. Previous lab experience desired. Must be detail-oriented, a hard worker, and have excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of basic lab and sterile techniques is a must. Must be a team-player who can work independently and perform repetitive tasks with both accuracy and precision. May be required to work flexible hours, including some weekends.
