Department Description

Our Laboratory studies germinal centers, which are structures within lymphoid organs where antibodies mutate and improve their targeting capabilities in a process called affinity maturation. This allows the immune system to produce antibodies that are precisely targeted at invaders, resulting in faster and more robust responses upon subsequent exposures.

Detailed Description

The Research Specialist work as part of an integral research team amongst two laboratories. Responsibilities include overseeing a large mouse colony, preparing animal ethics protocols, and performing genotyping, ear punching, submandibular bleeding, PCR, flow cytometry. Will also help with the maintenance of a germ-free mouse colony.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in science required. Must have knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials, as well as the ability to work independently within a team environment. Must possess excellent organizational, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with mice is required.
