Detailed Description
The DDRC is participating in a multi-University anti-viral drug discovery consortium which brings together experts in various fields of drug discovery in order to discovery new and better drugs for emerging viruses of pandemic concern. The Research Support Specialist will design, implement, and interpret experiments using novel and complex bioassay techniques. Will be responsible for high throughput screening, continuing through chemical lead optimization, determination of structure-activity relationships, and mechanism of action studies using biochemical and biophysical techniques.
Job Requirements
Ph.D. required; educational emphasis on biochemistry, biophysics, protein chemistry, or drug discovery preferred. Must have experience with enzymology, measurements of ligand-receptor interactions (such as isothermal calorimetry), surface plasmon resonance, and microscale thermophoresis. Must be able to conduct a drug discovery project from assay development through confirmed hit list and structure-activity relationships. Must possess a practical knowledge of chemical lead discovery. Excellent communication and team-building skills are required. Must have a proven ability to work collaboratively with users, be detail-oriented, and have high-priority management skills.
